Last night, Pantone announced their Color of the Year. Every year, there is a significant amount of anticipation in the design world for this special announcement, which this year came with the surprise of two colors for 2016 (unprecedented). Rose Quartz and Serenity are the Pantone Colors of the Year 2016.
Pantone is regarded as the “worldwide standard for color communication and inspiration since 1963.” Many look towards this announcement as inspiration for creativity in design for the new year. We will begin to see these colors pop up in everywhere from fashion to home design. We look forward to working with these colors ourselves.
Rose Quartz is a soft shade of pink whilst Serenity is a calm blue with a hint of purple. The colors are intended to blend together and present a sense of harmony, an anecdote to modern day stress. In a time when the world has seen many hardships, the Pantone Color of the Year 2016 takes a sort-of political bias towards providing reassurance and security for the world. As designers begin to apply these colors to their new designs, we will become surrounded in the peace they are intended to bring back into our everyday lives.
